Relaxation has always been one of the main benefits of sauna, but did you know that the saunas so much more than just relaxing your muscles? Different medical studies in recent years have proven that certain medical conditions can be helped by incorporating the sauna into their treatment.
If you’re a cancer patient, it’s almost guaranteed you’ll have better chances of surviving cancer if you complement your therapy with sauna sessions. There are two medical studies that prove that one of the more important benefits of sauna is helping sick patients live longer.
In a clinical study done by the European Society for Hyperthermic Oncology, it was found that among patients who used radiation therapy with infrared sauna therapy, 46% survived five years. On the other hand, among patients who went for radiation-only treatment only 28% survived five years into the treatment.
In another clinical study done at the St. George Hospital in Bad Aibling, Germany, it was found that combining chemotherapy and hyperthermia enabled 69% of late-stage ovarian cancer patients experienced improvements, with 15.5% of them actually going into remission.
The only way to explain the healing benefits of sauna on cancer can be explained by the fact that cancer cells, especially when they are in their early stages, cannot survive in temperatures of more than 42 degrees Celsius or 107 degrees Fahrenheit.
But really, the benefits of sauna go beyond killing cancer cells. It actually helps the body increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy and reducing its ill-effects by improving the body’s ability to detoxify itself.
At the same time, frequent sauna treatments also improve the body’s ability to heal and regenerate itself. But it’s not just in cancer patients that the benefits of sauna can be felt. People who have other medical conditions like arthritis, gout, and neuralgia can also see the same benefits by simply frequenting the sauna more often.
But really, the only way that you can make frequent trips to the sauna is by having a sauna at home. Check out discounted pre-built saunas here.
